Ramakrishna Ashram kids mooted with festive joy

IN a couple of days, the Festival of Light – Deepavali – will be celebrated across the world bringing a message of hope and goodwill.

During a celebration such as this, it is important not to forget the underprivileged, as Deepavali which symbolises light conquering darkness, will not be meaningful if it is not spent together with them.

In conjunction with the Deepavali celebration which falls on Nov 6, Pertubuhan Wanita Mutiara organised a High-Tea “Riang Ria Diwali” session for the kids from Ramakrishna Ashram at Scotland Road today which had the honourable Madam Tan Lean Kee, the wife of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, as the Guest of Honour.

“Deepavali signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil and it also speaks about goodwill.

“So let us all be reminded to be the light and lighted with purity and kindness in our actions as well as in our thoughts to each other and also to ourself.

“With that note, I would like to wish Happy Deepavali to all the kids here and hope you enjoy the evening,” said Tan during the high-tea session at Sri Ramakrishna Ashram today.

A total of 47 kids and young adults aged between 6 to 20 years old were seen having a good time enjoying the appetising meals and also received Deepavali Ang Pows from the Pertubuhan Mutiara Wanita
as well as goodie bags sponsored by Sunshine Supermarket.

At the event, Tan who also chairs Pertubuhan Mutiara Wanita, presented some contribution to Ramakrishna Ashram which was received by its deputy chairman K. Ramasamy.
