MORE than 50,000 visitors are expected to throng the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Penang 2026, set to take place this weekend on April 25 and 26 at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC).

Wong said this year’s edition is shaping up to be one of the largest yet, featuring over 300 booths and an extensive showcase of both domestic and international travel offerings.

“Visitors can look forward to irresistible travel deals, exclusive fair-only promotions, and strong participation from key industry players across the tourism sector.

“More importantly, the fair plays a vital role in stimulating travel demand and inspiring Malaysians to rediscover the joy of travel whether exploring hidden gems at home or venturing abroad,” he said at a press conference held at PWCC today.

Also present were MATTA Penang Chapter chairman Carolyn Leong and Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan.

Wong noted that this year marks a significant milestone for the fair as it makes its debut at PWCC.

“The new venue offers a modern, refreshed setting with improved accessibility and a scenic waterfront backdrop, elevating the overall visitor experience.

“As we count down to the event, I would like to assure the public that all preparations are firmly in place.

“The organisers, together with partners and stakeholders, have worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth, well-organised and enjoyable fair for everyone,” he added.

Meanwhile, Leong highlighted a host of exciting attractions awaiting visitors, particularly the highly anticipated buyer’s contest and the diverse array of travel packages on offer.

Leong highlighted a host of exciting attractions awaiting visitors, particularly the highly anticipated buyer’s contest and the diverse array of travel packages on offer.

“This year, we are proud to present a buyer’s contest with prizes worth up to RM100,000. Visitors who purchase travel packages at the fair will stand a chance to win incredible rewards, making their travel planning even more rewarding.

“With a minimum spend of just RM100, everyone has a chance to participate, making it inclusive and accessible to all.

“Among the top prizes are business class return tickets from Penang to Paris, Brisbane and Tokyo, sponsored by our official airline, Malaysia Airlines.

“In addition, there are more exciting flight prizes to destinations such as Chengdu, Incheon, the Maldives and Hanoi,” she said.

Leong added that one of the defining strengths of MATTA Fair Penang 2026 lies in its diversity.

“We are proud to feature a wide spectrum of travel agents, including Muslim-friendly providers as well as specialists catering to Chinese and Indian markets. This ensures that the fair truly reflects Malaysia’s multicultural landscape.

“Ultimately, there is something for everyone; no matter their travel preferences, cultural background or needs,” she said.
