A TOTAL of 20 members have been appointed to the Taman Merak Jaya Voluntary Fire Brigade Association committee for the 2023/2025 term.

 

From the list, 12 were re-appointed, while eight were new faces.

 

The new faces were Teh Ming Chian (deputy chairman), Leong Oi Mei (auditor), Tan Chin Khiang, Tan You Gee, Chew Chin Siong, Goey Hung Tek, Yeoh Zhi Jing and Kevin Teoh (committee members).

 

The rest were Goh Thean Lai (adviser), Loh Han Meng (legal advisor), Dr Tan Wooi Peng (medical advisor), Loh Lim Hua (chairman), Goh Chin Siong (vice-chairman), Heng Hock Lam (vice-chairman), Khee Geik Yong (secretary), Wu Jun Huu (treasurer), Lau Chia Chean, Loh Wei How, Low Wei Siong and Huan Boon Hee (committee members).

 

All the appointed members took their oath during the swearing-in ceremony at the Taman Merak Jaya Voluntary Fire Brigade Association in Simpang Ampat near Nibong Tebal today.

 

Lim Hua said the Taman Merak Jaya Voluntary Fire Brigade Association would continue its excellent services to the community.

 

“We are more committed than ever to providing the best services to the community, especially in terms of operations or rescue missions,” he said.

 

Also present were Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik.

 

Chow congratulated the Taman Merak Jaya Voluntary Fire Brigade Association.

 

“We are optimistic that the new line-up will fortify the structure and management of the association and maintain its track record of serving the public with dedication and excellence.

 

“Your commitment to your job or occupation did not keep you from serving as volunteers and members of this voluntary fire brigade.

 

“This is the true spirit of volunteerism. You are the unsung heroes who soldiered on without seeking anything in return.

 

“I thank the Taman Merak Jaya Voluntary Fire Brigade Association for its strong commitment and contribution to society since it was established in 2008.

 

“Keep up the good work and let us know if you need any assistance,” Chow said.
