Remain calm, Seri Delima folk urged

FOLLOWING the rise of Covid-19 cases in Penang particularly with the emergence of a Tembaga cluster, a Penang assemblyman has advised her constituents not to press the panic button as the situation is still under control.

Speaking to Buletin Mutiara during an interview in Komtar today, the first-time Seri Delima assemblyman Syerleena Abd Rashid emphasised that her constituency under the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary is safe.

She also called upon the public not to disseminate any false information.

“Don’t be influenced by any fake news that is spreading around the social media platform.

“There are many uncalled for messages that have been spreading, alleging that a few cases have been detected in her constituency.

“It is important for each of us to only verify the news with trusted authorities. The Health Ministry and the Penang Lawan Covid-19 provide the accurate information to the people during this pandemic.

“I hope the public will be more cautious and verify the messages before sending them to anyone.

“Don’t create any unnecessary panic during this period. The important thing is for the people to remain calm and follow the SOPs,” she said.

Syerleena said seven Village Community Management Councils (MPKK) were working closely to monitor the situation and provide assistance to the residents at the area.

“Several playgrounds in the vicinity have been ordered to be temporarily closed as part of the precautionary measures.

“Don’t be alarmed when we temporarily close the park especially during this period.

“Some of the Zumba and tai-chi classes have also been ordered to stop to safeguard public health and safety.

“I will continue to use social media platforms to educate and raise public awareness of the current pandemic situation.

“Self-discipline is still the best way to contain the pandemic,” she added.

The Seri Delima constituents can contact her service centre at 04-6595611 for any verification.
