THE Penang government has allocated RM6.8 million for the repair of two slopes located near Grandview Heights and Bukit Saujana apartments in Lorong Bukit Kukus, Paya Terubong.

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, who is also the Paya Terubong assemblyman, said such action is important to ensure the stability of the existing slopes and also to safeguard the safety of the residents there.

Yeoh said the repair works for the two slopes have already started on May 15 and they are expected to be completed on Nov 14, 2024.

“The repair works for the two slopes have already started on May 15 and they are expected to be completed on Nov 14, 2024.

“Among the works that will be carried out are soil nailing and guniting, rock bolting, installation of flexible barrier, drainage and road resurfacing works.

“Since the repair works are near residential areas and exposed to the public, the Engineering Department from Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has implemented a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) at the site before starting any work to avoid any disturbance to residents.

“Apart from that, the level of security at the site will be monitored from time to time to prevent any unnecessary incidents from happening,” Yeoh told a press conference during a site visit yesterday.

Yeoh also advised the residents there not to park their cars near the site where the slope repair works are being conducted.

“This is important to ensure the repair works could be carried out smoothly without endangering the public property,” he said.
