Second round of Movak programme begins on a high note

THE Community Vaccine Mobilisation (Movak) programme for the second dose of vaccination has started in Penang today.

A check by Buletin Mutiara at the Dewan Sri Pinang on Penang island showed that many traders and public hawkers were awaiting their turns to get jabs.

They were also following strict standard operating procedures (SOPs), scanning their MySejahtera app and having their body temperature checked.

When met, Mazlan Mohd Zin, who is the programme coordinator in Dewan Sri Pinang, told Buletin Mutiara that the response was positive during the second round of vaccination involving traders and hawkers.

“It’s an overwhelming response as there are about 150 people who have been vaccinated up till 10am.

“I estimate that about 500 people can be reached by the end of today.

“We aim to achieve 2,565 people at the end of this Movak programme, which is expected to take place in the next three to four days’ time.

“During the first round of vaccination, which was carried out from Sept 9 to Sept 12, a total of 2,565 people had turned up for their first dose.

“Only 35 people were absent. The vaccination rate stood at 98.65%.

“We have also reminded those who have received their first jab to turn up themselves in this round of vaccination,” he said.

The Movak programme is also simultaneously carried out at Dewan Haji Ahmad Badawi in Butterworth. Both vaccination centres are operating from 8.30am till 5pm.

One of the traders is delighted after receiving second dose of vaccine.

There are some 60 staff members from various agencies and departments who are providing their assistance to ensure the Movak programme can be held smoothly.
