Sharing the Christmas joy

UNDERPRIVILEGED and special children, together with the senior citizens and guests had their spirits lifted at the annual YWCA Christmas Party 2018 – thanks to YWCA Penang.

Some 300 guests from 15 charitable organisations had a wonderful time at YWCA Penang; singing Christmas songs, taking part in quiz, and playing games.

Excitement ratcheted up a notch when Santa Claus made an appearance.

The children having a lot of fun at the Christmas party.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and his wife Tan Lean Kee also joined in the celebration.

“We, Malaysians, should be proud that we are able to celebrate diversity in this country.

“We have the opportunity to foster friendship, celebrate love and understand the different cultures here in Malaysia. Let us enjoy and maintain this gift of peace and harmony.

“The Penang government has always been supportive, and will continue to support programmes that promote understanding and mutual respect among the community.

“We live in a multi-ethnic and a multi-cultural society.

“Be it Hari Raya, Deepavali, Chinese New Year or Christmas, we come together as one big family to celebrate fellowship and togetherness,” Chow said in his speech at YWCA Penang on Dec 8.

Chow, Tan, YWCA Malaysia and Penang president Datuk Dr Marina David and the children also took part in a cake cutting ceremony before being entertained by talented magician-cum-entertainer ‘Mr B’.

Those present were being entertained by ‘Mr B’.

The guests were treated to light refreshments at the end of the event.
