Lighting up the spirit of Christmas

AS Christmas draws near, everything gets a little overwhelming.

Standing majestically in front of Menara M Summit in Magazine Road is a six-metre tall Christmas tree; intensifying the excitement as celebrants usher in the Yuletide celebration.

M Summit Group managing director Datuk Albert Moh said the Group would like to give back to society by igniting hope and spreading festive cheer among children in the neighbourhood.

“Christmas is a time for rejoicing and reflection. As we pray for joy and peace on earth, we also count our blessings.

“In this spirit of sharing, we are sponsoring back-to-school items worth RM15,000 for some 150 children.

“We hope that our gifts will spur the children to study harder and excel in their academic pursuits. Education has always been close to our hearts,” Moh said during the Group’s inaugural Christmas tree lighting event on Dec 8.

M Summit Voices carollers and some 300 people also joined in the renditions of ‘The Little Drummer Boy’, ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’, ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’, ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’, ‘Joy to the World’, ‘Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer’, ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘O Holy Night’.

Besides bringing joy to the children, the Group also played their part to care for the environment when the Group announced the free ‘Lantern of Hope’ public workshops (Dec 12 and 19) in aid of charity for participants to make lanterns using recyclables. Every entry will raise RM50 for charity.

The lanterns will be hung along the Magazine Road-Jalan Gurdwara back lane which M Summit spent RM800,000 to upgrade.

Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Gooi Zi Sen thanked M Summit Group for their kind gesture to the children.

“I want to thank M Summit for organising this meaningful event. As you can see, Christmas came early in the Tanjong constituency,” he said in his speech.

Also present were Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, M Summit Group purchasing director Datin Jennifer Ong and M Summit Executive Suites general manager Joachim Chai.
