State Aquatic Centre resumes operation and ready to make a splash

THE Setia SPICE Aquatic Centre has now opened its swimming facilities to the public following its closure during the movement control order (MCO) period which had took place earlier this year.

According to its manager Jackson Wang, the centre is slowly picking up pace after resuming its services recently, (March 5) after the state was put under the conditional MCO till March 18.

“We are following all the strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) as we have come up with a schedule that segregates public, members and Wahoo members (swimming club) into respective groups.

“Each group will have their own timetable to use our pools and in this manner, we would be able to avoid overcrowding the place so as to ensure public health and safety.

“Thus, people are now slowly regaining confidence in coming back to this place to enjoy their swimming sessions.

“Prior to opening to the public, we had allowed training sessions for those people involved in sports who had obtained permission from the authorities to undergo training,’’ said Wang when the Buletin Mutiara team visited the Setia SPICE Aquatic Centre today.

Wang stated that the centre highly takes into account the aspect of hygiene, therefore commits to conduct maintenance work for the pools, thrice a week.

“There are three pools available here, namely the lap pool, stretch pool and the diving pool.

“The lap and stretch pools are for our members and public to use, but the diving pool is only for the athletes.

“All the pools undergo a thorough maintenance every on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of the week for two hours.

“Children between three to 12-year-old would be using the stretch pool which is specially dedicated for them and we usually allow parents to accompany them.

“We are also currently giving a special rate until  March 31 that is RM 5 (per entry) for visitors to enjoy our swimming facilities.

“This is our small gesture of giving back to the community during this time,’’ added Wang.

Apart from that, Wang also shared that other facilities found in the centre such as the dance studio, Muay Thai training centre, badminton and squash courts are also currently open.

“Adding on to our existing services, we would also be utilising our facilities to offer training venue for two new sports, that is the dodgeball and floorball.

“There is also an upcoming project in the centre that would involve the setting up of a space for clinical assessment for athletes,’’ said Wang.
