THE company involved in the Jelutong landfill reclamation project is expected to respond to the Penang government’s suggestions by next week, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
He said state Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye has been engaging with the company, which has been given two weeks to respond to the state’s proposal. They held a meeting on June 11.
“With one week already passed, we expect their response this coming week. Once they respond, we will announce the decision,” said Chow after attending the 26th PBA Holdings Bhd (PBAHB) Annual General Meeting at Jen Hotel today.
The project has drawn public scrutiny following calls by Protect Karpal Singh Drive for the state to halt the plan.
