CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow has reiterated that the state executive council (exco) post for the Health, Agriculture, Agro-Based Industry and Rural Development Committee would be filled again by a state assemblyman from PKR.

The position was left vacant following the resignation of Dr Afif Bahardin, who is the Seberang Jaya assemblyman.

“The state is waiting for PKR’s nominations for the post as it is understood that they are going to meet very soon.

Chow addressing the reporters during a press conference.

“In fact, I have already written a letter to them, asking the party to give me a few names to consider.

“It is clear from my statement that I have asked the party to nominate its candidates,” he said after attending the International Women’s Day 2020 closing ceremony in Dewan Sri Pinang today.

Chow was commenting on the issue after being asked by reporters on whether the state executive councillor’s position would be given to other party.

This comes after Amanah had in a statement proposed one of its assemblymen for the position.

Dr Afif had yesterday relinquished his position but had pledged to support the state under Chow towards realising the Penang2030 vision.

The Seberang Jaya assemblyman had also assured his constituents that he would serve them diligently.

Chow, nevertheless, added that he would make the final decision on Dr Afif’s replacement.
