The Millennia affordable housing project expands to meet growing demand

THE Penang Housing Board’s first affordable housing project, The Millennia, will now have more affordable units to cater to the needs of the people.

 

Initially, The Millennia was projected to have a total of 1,197 units, consisting of 282 low medium-cost units (measuring 700sq ft each) and 915 units of affordable housing (measuring 881sq ft) and 59 commercial units.

 

Now, it will consist of 1,260 units; which include 300 low medium-cost units (measuring 705sq ft each) and 960 units of affordable housing (measuring 900sq ft each). The project will also have 60 commercial units.

 

Penang Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the construction of the project was scheduled to start in December this year.

 

“The project, on an 8.7-acre land in Bukit Gedung, is expected to be completed in 2028.

 

“We strive to provide the highest quality affordable homes for the people.

 

“This is the Penang Housing Board’s first affordable housing project. We have to walk the talk.

 

“The Millennia is set to be a Green Building Index (GBI) certified and Qlassic-certified project,” he told a media conference at the Penang International Commercial City (PICC) sales gallery in Bayan Baru today.

Hunza Group managing director Datuk Khor Siang Gin said the Group was in partnership with the Penang Housing Board to develop The Millennia.

 

Also present were Penang Housing Board general manager ‘Ainul Fadhilah Samsudi, chief business officer Fakhurrazi Ibnu Omar and chief operating officer Mohd Fauzy Mohd Yusoff.
