The Next Gen series continue to captivate young minds

A GROUP of ladies from WomenBizSense (WBS) came up with the idea for The Next Gen series to instil an entrepreneurial mindset in children and teach them future skills beyond textbooks.

WBS comprises women entrepreneurs who have the skills to inspire kids.

It held a Kids’ Public Speaking Workshop as its Series 3 at Ladang Oasis, Kebun Bunga on Saturday.

Chen Li Li, one of the three women who took the initiative to start this series for kids, said WBS looks for women leaders in business to share their real-life skills with kids to empower and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders.

“In our upcoming series, we plan to offer vocal training for kids, plant in a bottle, mind mapping, tidying up, and more.

“Our classes are held monthly on a Saturday morning and last for approximately two to three hours, during which we provide a healthy lunch from the hydroponics farm.

“We also encourage kids to bring preloved books to exchange, instilling the micro habit of reading. As the saying goes, “Today’s a reader, tomorrow’s a leader,” Chen said.

Chow time!

The other two members who initiated this project are WBS members Hayzel Cheah and Sylvia Ang, who is the owner of Ladang Oasis.

WBS’s first series began with a financial board game that taught integrity, financial education, and sustainable living skills through hydroponic planting.

Series 2 involved a strategy game of Go to teach children the importance of thinking before acting, rather than acting on impulse.

The most recent series, Series 3, focused on teaching children to be confident in public speaking and had a full house of participants.
