Three hawkers in Batu Lancang do their bit for Selangor flood victims

 

THREE Penang hawkers in the Batu Lancang state constituency have stepped forward to lend a hand to the flood victims in Selangor by donating a total of RM13,600.

Koay teow th’ng seller K’ng King Weng, char hor fun seller Teng Lai Hoong and BK Cafe owner Michelle Yew, who are operating in a coffee shop in Perak Road, were moved by the sufferings of the victims and decided to contribute to a good cause.

The initiative was coordinated by one Chin Hong Seng.

Batu Lancang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong, who is also assisting in the fund-raising efforts, was pleased with the voluntary effort by them.

The two noodle hawkers contributed whatever amount they could raise by selling their food from 6am to 10.30am today while the drink seller also chipped in.

“Their donation will be channelled to the ‘DAP Tabung Banjir Selangor’.

“This is our effort in providing assistance to the flood victims.

“This is a voluntary effort by them and I hope more will step forward to assist as well,” Ong told reporters when met at the coffeeshop.
