Three housing projects state wide expected to be ready for occupancy come mid 2019, says exco.

Jagdeep Singh this morning commented that the State Government and Penang Development Corporation together were involve in 19 projects state wide in five districts.

“Basically most of the projects are about 80 percent completed, while the rest are in various stages of development.

” Three projects like SP Chelliah, Kg Jawa, Butterworth and Suria, Batu Kawan are expected for handing over of keys and occupancy, come middle of 2019,” Jagdeep told reporters this morning during his visit and spot check at Dua Residensi in Teluk Kumbar.

He added it is very important for housing developers not only to ensure projects are completed on schedule, but also quality requirements are strictly followed.

” I will be carrying out site visit and spot checks on projects under construction from time to time” he stressed, while thanking developers involve for working hand in hand with the state government in ensuring adequate supply of houses for the public.

“In this regard, it should be noted that some 28, 195 units of low cost, low medium cost and affordable housing has to date been build since 2008, whilst some 22,065 units are in various stages of development; and some 32, 212 units have been approved to be built by both public and private sector,” he said.

Jagdeep commented that he will continue to ensure that all projects by the State Government are given top pirority and also continue to monitor the progress of other affordable housing projects not only by the private sector but also by the Federal Government in Penang.
