ENTREPRENEURSHIP is about having determination, discipline and the courage to see it through.
It’s about not giving up and being the last person standing when everyone else has given up.
“The best entrepreneurs do share a collection of characteristics, from tenacity to the ability to tolerate risk, that are crucial to a successful venture. An entrepreneur has to be able to live with uncertainty and push through any obstacle that comes his way,” Bayan Baru MP, Sim
Tze Tzin said when officiating the “Journey To Successful Entrepreneurship” function on Sept 21.
“Besides, an entrepreneur must be able to take risk, the ability to withstand the fear of uncertainty and potential failure,” he added.
“Other than this, great entrepreneurs must also be visionaries, persons of confidence, flexible, and not afraid to break rules, as in thinking out of the box. Today we have three superb entrepreneurs here who are willing to share their secrets with us in their journey to success, and for that
I think we are extremely lucky,” he added.
The speakers at the function were Datuk Seri Raymond Liew from MvMillan Woods Global Limited, Datuk Seri Damien Chuah from JD Resources Sdn Bhd and Datuk Cher Chen Chiang from Teik Senn (M) Sdn Bhd.
Sim, who represented Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, said a large part of Penang’s economic success, and also the world is owed to many triumphant cases of entrepreneurship.
He added that to make Penang the best place to live and work, the state government has initiated a scheme to attract talents, where first-time house buyers under the affordable category can do so at a discounted price.
“We hope this will help attract talents and investors to Penang,” he said
