A TWO-month exhibition starting from September 18 to November 19 will be held at three specified locations, namely at Komtar, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) offices and Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP).

It is without doubt that a longer period given to the exhibition (compared to the usual one month) will give more time to the public and related government agencies to forward proposals, views, and recommendations concerning the contents of the draft of the State Structural Plan (RSNPP) 2030.

Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town & Country Planning Jagdeep Singh Deo said this in his speech when launching the RSNPP 2030 programme at Komtar.

The RSNPP 2030 Draft represents a development document in print which consists of a plan backed by mapping of land use for the state of Penang for the planning period till 2030. It is aimed to promote Penang as an intelligent, harmonious and intelligent city.

Jagdeep said the draft also represents a research document for RSNPP 2020, which was publicised before in June 2007.
“The state of Penang through its Planning Committee has directed PLANMalaysia@PulauPinang to coordinate the completion of Draft RSNPP 2030,” added Jagdeep, who represented Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at the function.

Jagdeep also urged the public to come forward with their views, offer suggestions as well as criticisms for improvements of RSNPP2030.

“The State Government is always open to hear from all,” he stressed.

Among those present were director of PLANMalaysia@Pulau Pinang (Dept of Town & Country Planning), Idris Abdul Rahim and exco for Women and Family Development, Gender Inclusiveness and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Chong Eng.

Jagdeep commented that for Penangites that do not have the opportunity to view the exhibition in person, they can download Apps for DRSNPP2030 to submit their suggestions, views and objections online.

“With this, the public especially Penangites do not have the excuse not to share their proposals to optimize the contents for Draft RSNPP 2030.”
