Valuable lessons learned from Nordic counterparts

 

IT was a fruitful engagement session between the Penang government and the Nordic countries on sustainable development during the ‘Green Society Advancing Through Sustainable Development’ forum.

The state has gained a lot of knowledge on sustainable development and how it could be adapted here.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who was present at the dinner reception at Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel for the forum participants, was fascinated by the innovative spirit of the Nordics in sharing their knowledge on environmental protection.

“For those who have been with us this afternoon, I trust all of you have learned much.

“Talk to our Nordic friends, especially presenters to find out more on solutions for sustainable development.

“The state is looking forward to having further cooperation in the future,” he said in his speech at the dinner reception at the hotel today.

Those present were treated to a sumptuous buffet dinner.

Many of them took the opportunity to engage with each other with the aim of lifting Penang to greater heights.

The forum was to promote green societies through sustainable development.

The Nordic region comprises Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland.
