THE vision-inspection equipment maker, ViTrox Corporation Berhad, has stepped forward to donate RM250,000 to the non-governmental organisation (NGO) Buddhist Tzu Chi Merits Society in Penang.
ViTrox chief executive officer and president Chu Jenn Weng presented the mock cheque to the Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia (Penang) commissioner Datuk Khoo Boo Leong in the presence of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at the cheque handover ceremony in Komtar recently.
Also present at the ceremony were state Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh and ViTrox people culture director Su Pek Fuen.
Chu said the contribution to the Penang Tzu Chi was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
“The donation given also serves as a charity fund for the Penang Tzu Chi to continue their charity and welfare programmes in the state.
“Even before this, we regularly donated to this NGO and other NGOs on behalf of the company and also through our personal contributions.
“We are always committed to extending a helping hand to the Penang Tzu Chi and other NGOs in whatever way we can during these trying times.
“After all, it is our responsibility indeed to give back to society through all these NGOs,” he said.
Khoo thanked ViTrox for the valuable contribution and said that the money would be used wisely to help the needy in Penang through various charitable programmes.
“We will also use part of it for our flood relief mission to help victims in Baling, Kedah,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chow thanked ViTrox for the donation and commended Penang Tzu Chi that has never failed to respond to the call of duty in times of emergency.
“I also would like to thank Penang Tzu Chi for always working closely with the state government over the years, especially during the lockdowns caused by the Covid-19 situation.
“It always stands by round-the-clock and is ready to offer its assistance to the needy, hospitals, prisons, frontliners and others.
“This shows that the Buddhist Tzu Chi Merits Society in Penang got all the resources and experiences in times of emergency. And that is the most important.
“At the same time, I hope that the donation given today by ViTrox will inspire other companies to come forward and donate as well to the NGOs in Penang,” said Chow.
