Wait for court decision before deciding on Guan Eng’s position, says Chow

THE Democratic Action Party (DAP) leadership will wait for the court decision regarding corruption charges involving its national chairman Lim Guan Eng before taking any further action, says Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow, who is also the DAP national vice-chairman and the state DAP chairman, said the party leadership would not rush into the matter.

“DAP’s position is to wait until the court has delivered a decision before deciding on the fate of our national chairman Lim Guan Eng.

“And until now, the position remains the same,” Chow replied when asked by a reporter regarding a recent Facebook posting from former Johor DAP chief Dr Boo Cheng Hau calling for Lim to temporarily step down pending his corruption trial.

Chow was met at the closing ceremony of TechCamp Malaysia 2022: ‘Smart Journalism, Healthy Democracy’ at Golden Sands Resort in Batu Ferringhi today.

Dr Boo, in his Facebook page posting on March 23, had said that it would be hard for the party to maintain its principles and core values and keep a good public image if its leaders who are facing criminal charges in court do not step down.
