THE three Pakatan Harapan (PH) states, namely Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor, should not be complacent in the state polls next year, but continue to defend their state administration, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow, who is also Penang PH chairman and state DAP chairman, urged his comrades in other states not to take anything for granted, especially after the recent 15th General Election.

He lauded the state DAP’s achievements of winning seven parliamentary seats during the concluded general election. The seats are in Batu Kawan, Jelutong, Bukit Gelugor, Tanjong, Bukit Bendera, Bagan and Bukit Mertajam.

“For Penang state seats, we (DAP) have won 19 state seats out of 19 we contested in 2018. We hope to maintain the momentum in the coming polls, which is scheduled to be held next year.

“However, we (DAP) still need our coalition partners to do their best to deliver their seats.

“We can’t afford to rest on our laurels. We need to keep our momentum in the coming state polls,” he said in his speech when welcoming the Rasah parliamentary delegation from Negeri Sembilan in Komtar today.

The Rasah parliamentary team was led by its MP Cha Kee Chin.

Cha, who made his second visit to the state this time after the 2018 General Election, praised Penang’s development under Chow’s leadership.

“We need to work hard now to retain the PH states in the next state election. Penang is an exemplary state model for us to follow,” he said.

Among those present were deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying, state Social Development and Non-Religious Committee chairman Chong Eng, state Tourism and Creative Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim, Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi, former Bukit Bendera MP Wong Hon Wai, Kepayang assemblyman Nicole Tan and Seremban Jaya assemblyman P. Gunasekaran.
