A TOTAL of 217 landowners in Kampung Valdor received temporary land title approval letters today for the extension of their leasehold tenure, marking a significant milestone for the community.
A brief presentation ceremony was held at SJKC Kampung Valdor and was attended by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Penang Trade and National Unity Committee chairman Goh Choon Aik, who is also the Bukit Tambun assemblyman.
In his speech, Chow announced that the leasehold period for the affected landowners had been successfully extended to 99 years.
“The extension of the leasehold tenure to 99 years brings significant economic benefits to the residents of Kampung Valdor.
“It not only provides legal certainty over land ownership, but also enhances property values, facilitates inheritance and estate management, and creates greater opportunities for more sustainable and well-planned development in the area.
“I hope this handover of land title approvals will serve as a catalyst for improving household incomes and driving the overall prosperity of the Kampung Valdor community,” he said.
Chow said the ceremony reflected the Penang government’s continued commitment to ensuring that the people enjoy greater certainty over their land ownership rights.
“This initiative is crucial in providing families with a more stable and secure future, in line with the aspirations of the Penang2030 vision,” he added.
Reflecting on the journey leading to today’s milestone, Chow said the state government held a dialogue session with Kampung Valdor residents on Jan 12, 2025, to explain its policy of extending leasehold land tenure to 99 years, including the premium discount incentives offered under the initiative.
He said the commitment was further reinforced through the opening of special service counters in May and June 2025 at the Kampung Valdor multipurpose hall.
“Through the close collaboration between the Batu Kawan parliamentary service centre, the Bukit Tambun state constituency service centre, and the South Seberang Perai District Land and Mines Office, residents were guided step by step in completing their applications.
“This hands-on approach has proven effective in simplifying procedures, reducing confusion, and expediting the approval process through a more responsive public service delivery system,” Chow said.
