SEBERANG Perai folk have been advised to store water at their respective households in view of a 48-hour scheduled water disruption from Dec 2 to Dec 4.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who issued the alert, said the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) would shut down part of the Sungai Dua water treatment plant to facilitate the damaged valve replacement works.

“Replacement works need to be carried out soon and the works involved the replacement of 1,350mm and 1,250mm diameter valves.

“Certain parts on the mainland will experience low water pressure and PBAPP has urged the consumers to do the necessary by storing water during this period.

“In fact, PBAPP has explained to us during a state executive council meeting that they will strive to resolve the scheduled water cut within 48 hours.

“PBAPP will do its level best,” he said at a press conference after being asked by a reporter on the matter.

Chow said the water disruption would not affect the islanders, while hoping the affected consumers would understand the need for the repair works.

Chow expressed his hopes that water consumers could get themselves ready with the early notice issued by PBAPP.
