SILVER Jubilee Home for the Aged was filled with warmth, laughter, and heartfelt moments as System Elite (M) Sdn Bhd, together with Emerges Multi-Tech Sdn Bhd, organised their annual CSR community outreach programme, “A Touch of July Love.”
The home’s residents enjoyed a memorable Sunday surrounded by caring volunteers, lively performances, delicious local delicacies and, above all, the joy of genuine companionship during the programme on July 19 from 10am to 2pm.
What made the initiative truly special was the heartfelt story behind it.
It all began with a group of close friends whose birthdays all fall in July. While planning to celebrate the occasion together, they decided to make their birthdays more meaningful by reaching out to those in need.
From a small birthday gathering among friends, “A Touch of July Love” has blossomed into an annual community outreach programme that celebrates kindness, compassion, and the joy of giving back.
Now in its second consecutive year at Silver Jubilee Home, organising chairman Catt Oon Na Na, together with her fellow July birthday celebrant Lt Kol Datuk Leena Lee Soch Khim and System Elite (M) Sdn Bhd, once again brought smiles to the residents.
Joining hands with event sponsor Emerges Multi-Tech Sdn Bhd, they thoughtfully planned a programme that reminded every resident they are loved, valued, and never forgotten.
“We were honoured by the presence of Sungai Puyu assemblyman Phee Syn Tze, who acknowledged the increasingly important role of elderly care as Penang moves towards an ageing society. She commended the Home for its unwavering commitment in caring for the elderly and serving the community,” Oon said.
Representing Silver Jubilee Home, General Committee chairman Datuk Ooi Hooi Kiang attended the event together with General Committee members Ang Gaik Ling and Tan Sim Bee.
During the official presentation ceremony, Ooi graciously received mock cheques and five food steamers on behalf of the Home, expressing her sincere appreciation to the organisers and sponsors for their generosity and continued support.
In her welcoming speech, Ang conveyed the Home’s heartfelt gratitude to Oon and her organising committee for curating a programme that cared not only for the residents’ practical needs but also for their emotional well-being.
She said every activity reflected genuine compassion and reminded the residents that they are cherished, respected, and remembered by the community.
The Home received RM25,000 in donations from System Elite (M) Sdn Bhd (RM5,000), Emerges Multi-Tech Sdn Bhd (RM10,000), and Jack Tan Kok Loong (RM10,000).
In addition, five food steamers were donated by Danson Mark Wei, Catt Oon Na Na, Alwin Ng Hai Woon, Jack Tan Kok Loong, and Lt Kol Datuk Leena Lee Soch Khim.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, renowned Malaysian Mandopop singer Thomas Khor delivered a heartfelt performance that captivated the audience and brought smiles to many faces.
The programme also featured energetic Zumba and line dance performances, creating a lively atmosphere that encouraged residents, volunteers and guests to celebrate together.
No celebration in Penang would be complete without its famous local delights. Residents and guests were treated to laksa, Hokkien mee, char kueh teow, ais kacang, a variety of desserts and refreshing beverages.
To top it all off, N.419 Senses Coffee served freshly brewed coffee and refreshing juices, adding a special touch to the day’s festivities.
Thoughtfully prepared goodie bags, ang pows, wonderful performances and meaningful interactions made the occasion even more memorable, with every shared smile becoming a treasured memory for the residents.
More than simply a day of giving, the event was a celebration of kindness, dignity and human connection.
It demonstrated that the most meaningful celebrations are those shared with others, where joy is multiplied through generosity and compassion.
