SJKC Shih Chung Cawangan Sg Nibong recently launched its “Classroom Environment Enhancement and Air-Conditioning Project”, marking a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to providing a better learning environment.
The school’s Board of Directors chairman Datuk Seri Kelvin Kiew Kwong Sen donated RM100,000 in support of the project.
With all 22 classrooms now fully equipped with air conditioners, students can enjoy a more comfortable and conducive learning environment, helping to improve concentration and academic performance.
The launch ceremony, held on July 16, was attended by representatives from the Board of Directors, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), alumni association, parents and donors, who gathered to witness the upgrade and demonstrate their collective support for education.
Speaking on behalf of the Board of Directors, secretary Teh Chee Keong said that the Special Education Programme at SJKC Shih Chung Pusat, located in George Town, has made encouraging progress in recent years.
He noted that SJKC Shih Chung Cawangan Sg Nibong still requires continued support from the community to further enhance its teaching facilities and learning environment.
“A quality learning environment is essential for children’s growth,” he said.
Teh also expressed his sincere appreciation to the alumni association, PTA, parents, and generous donors for their unwavering support in providing students with a safer and more comfortable place to learn.
PTA chairman Lim Yee Ming said the classroom enhancement project not only upgraded the school’s physical facilities but also reflected the community’s care and commitment to children’s education.
He thanked Kiew for his generous donation of RM100,000, describing it as a major driving force behind the classroom improvement and air-conditioning installation project.
“This remarkable contribution has significantly enhanced the learning environment while exemplifying the spirit of corporate and community support for education,” he said.
Headmistress Wong Sze Cheak shared that the increasingly hot weather has affected students’ concentration and teachers’ classroom instruction, prompting the school to initiate the project.
She said that after months of planning, fundraising, and promotional efforts, the Board of Directors, PTA, Alumni Association, teachers, and parents worked hand in hand to raise the funds to install air conditioners in all 22 classrooms, completing the meaningful initiative.
Wong expressed her heartfelt appreciation to all donors and supporting organisations, adding that the school would continue to improve its campus environment, enhance students’ learning experiences, and nurture future generations of outstanding individuals.
The launch ceremony not only celebrated the successful upgrading of the school’s facilities but also showcased the remarkable achievements made possible through strong collaboration between the school, families, and the wider community. It marked another important milestone in the continued development of SJKC Shih Chung Cawangan Sg Nibong.
