AN exciting line-up of activities and programmes awaits visitors at the upcoming Cultural Arts Enrichment Programme@Lintang Macallum Community 2025, set to take place this weekend in Pengkalan Kota.
The two-day event, jointly organised by the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) Penang and the Penang Island Creative Theatre Arts Association (KREATER), will be held on Aug 16 and 17 at Padang Awam Lintang Macallum 2.
Highlights across the weekend include free health screenings, the Macallum Culture Market, a community feast, cultural performances, traditional games competitions, a colouring contest, Jualan Rahmah, a communal clean-up, and a patriotic-themed singing competition.
Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng said the main goal of the programme is to foster unity and understanding among the community’s diverse ethnic groups through activities rooted in local arts, culture, and heritage.

“In addition, this programme aims to revive the spirit of gotong-royong (mutual cooperation) in urban communities, while enhancing the vibrancy, cleanliness, and safety of the neighbourhood through active resident participation,” he said.
According to Wong, Lintang Macallum was chosen for its strategic location and diverse community background, making it an ideal platform to unite people through inclusive and comprehensive cultural engagement.
“The programme caters to all ages and backgrounds, offering activities that are educational, interactive, and enjoyable.
“It not only provides exposure to local cultural heritage but also supports the community’s economy through marketplace opportunities and creative collaborations,” Wong added.
He also emphasised that events like this are essential in promoting social cohesion, especially in Pengkalan Kota, the smallest yet most densely populated constituency in the country.
The event is family-friendly and open to people of all races. Visitors are advised to park at the nearby SJK (C) Li Tek for convenience.
