The Linear Park at Padang Kota Lama has officially introduced an interactive laser projector light installation, conceptualised and brought to life by Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran.

Penang Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, who officiated the launch today, said MBPP has consistently installed decorative lighting at key local attractions and tourism hotspots to enhance vibrancy, create a festive ambience, and boost both social and economic activity.

He added that the system is equipped with an outdoor infrared capture camera, 70 types of interactive 3D video effects (rotating every three minutes), built-in sound, high-definition laser visuals, IP65 waterproof capabilities, and a creative content concept designed specifically for outdoor public spaces.

“MBPP will continue to study the feasibility of installing more decorative lighting across other major public sites in the future, while also exploring new lighting technologies,” H’ng added.

Also present were MBPP building control department director Rizuwan Salleh, MBPP councillors Koay Gaik Kee, Tan Soo Siang, Visvenathan Tangavello, Alan Lim Wei Lun and Shafiz Rahim Raja.
