Applicants can register online or walk in to rent MBPP’s stalls

A TOTAL of 130 vacant premises are available for rent at the Penang Island City Council’s (MBPP) hawker complexes and markets.

MBPP councillor Nicholas Theng said those who are interested can either register online or walk in to the council’s licensing office at Padang Kota Lama to arrange for an interview.

“Last month, when we switched from walk-in registration to online registration, we received good response from the public.

“So, we have also decided to continue with online registration for this month but this time walk-in registration will be also available starting from Aug 11 to 20.

“Those who encounter difficulties to make online registration can just walk in to our office or contact us starting from the dates mentioned,” Theng told a press conference today.

According to Theng, the interview, which will be done face to face, is set to take place on Aug 24.

“Due to the recovery movement control order (RMCO), the applicants will be called for an interview in stages to minimise movement and social contact.

“They will be receiving an SMS pertaining to their applications on Aug 21. Thus, the applicants are advised to give their contact numbers accurately.

“We will be also conducting the interviews on monthly basis starting from now. Previously, we held the interviews every three to four months,” he added.

Applicants can register through https://elesen.mbpp.gov.my (from Aug 11 onwards) and for further information can contact 04-2638818 (ext 307/308/309/310).
