BATIK Festival 2018 is all set to enchant when it is held at the Sungai Gelugor Corporative field on Sept 15 and 16 from 10am to 10pm.
The theme of the festival is “Style your Batik, Feel it. Love it.”
“Penang Batik lovers should attend the two-day festival which is taking place in a couple of days.
“The purpose of this Batik Fest is to foster the love for the country as well as to promote Malaysian culture to the global eye,” Seri Delima assemblymember Syerleena Abdul Rashid told a press conference on Sept 12.
“It is also an opportunity to recognise batik as it can promote the traditions of the country.
“The objective of this fest is to educate and nurture upcoming generation or youths’ interest in batik.
“By attending this fest, the public might take the initiative to improve the batik industry in Malaysia.
“Batik fest also will give an alternative exposure to ‘sarung’ batik cloth”, emphasized Eighteen&18 Resources Manager Ahmad Imran Ellias, who is also the organiser of Batik Fest 2018.
The festival promises to be a colourful event as the organisers have lined up many activities such as drawing, batik colouring contest, buskers, batik stamp and mural batik.
Also participating in the fest will be online batik entreprenuers, enthusiasts, school students, food truck entreprenuers and the public.
It is expected that more than two thousand people will visit the festival which is free of charge.
Penangites are encouraged to come and enjoy the festival as this year, it is held in a community-based area to make it accessible to the public to understand and appreciate batik.
