BATU Kawan has been experiencing tremendous development over the last decade.

The people and state have benefitted from the various sectors available in Batu Kawan.

Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency candidate Chow Kon Yeow said Batu Kawan has matured so much over the years.

“There are the manufacturing industry, aquaculture, food industry, cockle farming, poultry industry and many more in Batu Kawan.

“Exploring deeper, we also have the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), logistics and supply chain sectors.

“The entire Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency is huge, and we have seen a great transformation here over the years,” he said when asked about his views of Batu Kawan.

Chow was having a dialogue with the members of the Penang Aquaculture Breeders Association (Penkua), fishermen and other local association representatives at Bukit Tambun fishing village today.

With him were Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik and Penkua chairman Datuk Goh Cheng Liang.

Chow said he was aware of the traffic woes in Batu Kawan.

“Traffic issues are important matters which need to be addressed. I have also been caught in traffic during my usual visits to Seberang Perai.

“We have taken note of the matter.

“No announcement has been made because this is an election campaign period. This is to avoid any complication from arising later,” he said.

Chow thanked the people for attending the dialogue session.

“It is good to have this dialogue session to know the issues that you faced, and for us to find solutions to address them,” he said, expressing his appreciation to those present for striving in their respective sectors.

Chow also answered several concerns which were brought up by the local community.

“Our state executive councillor (exco) for Agrotech and Food Security, Rural Development and Health, Dr Norlela Ariffin, has also been actively engaging various organisations and stakeholders to ensure their well-being,” he said.

After the dialogue, Chow and his campaign team visited the night market at Perkampungan Juru.

An uncle could not contain his happiness that he shows two thumbs up to Chow when met at the night market in Perkampungan Juru.

They distributed 2023 calendars to the local community there.

Coincidentally, Chow met with the Barisan Nasional’s Batu Kawan candidate Tan Lee Huat at the night market and both of them exchanged greetings.
