THE Rapid Penang Sdn Bhd operator has been urged to provide bus services to George Town via Datuk Keramat for the residents residing in Lebuhraya Thean Tek.
Joseph Ng (PH-Air Itam) said the Shineville Park and Shineville Garden Management Committee (MCs) had written to Rapid Penang Sdn Bhd in 2017, requesting for the bus services.
The issue has been raised again by the residents after a dialogue session recently.
“Hence, I have written to Rapid Penang Sdn Bhd since then, but have not received any feedback thus far.
“I hope they can provide the latest update to me and the MCs of Shineville Garden and Shineville Park.
“Rapid Penang Sdn Bhd’s responsibility is to provide bus services to the Penangites,” Ng told the State Legislative Assembly today.
On the same issue, Ng noted the traffic congestion that has been plaguing the Air Itam residents.
“The state is consistently aware of it, and had initiated the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) to address the congestion.
On tourism in Air Itam, Ng pointed out there are many tourist spots, such as Kek Lok Si Temple, Air Itam Dam, mural paintings, and the Air Itam War Memorial Park.
“Also, the Michelin Guide can consider to recognise those famous eatery outlets in Air Itam as well to promote the food,” he said.
