THE Penang Football Club (Penang FC) management is committed to doing the necessary to improve the club’s performance for the upcoming season.

Daniel Gooi Zi Sen (PH-Pengkalan Kota), who is also one of the Penang FC board of directors, said the management is well aware of the issues faced by the club due to the poor performance last season.

“We understand the criticisms and frustration of the Penang FC fans because of the team’s dismal performance in the league. And of course, we have the plan to overcome this issue.

“Some appropriate actions have been taken and will be taken, including the establishment of a special committee together with the technical team.

“The objective of this special committee is to focus on issues such as player selection, player performance and physical fitness.

“The special committee will also focus on the marketing, and sponsorship as well as setting up the relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the management of Penang FC can function properly.

“Rest assured, Penang FC management is fully committed to bringing the club to greater heights,” Gooi said when debating Budget 2023 at the State Legislative Assembly today.

Gooi also congratulated the Penang football team achievement in the recent 20th Sukma in Kuala Lumpur for managing to reach the final.

“I would like to congratulate the Penang football Sukma squad managed by the coach Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli who successfully brought the team to the final after 22 years!

“Although we did not manage to win in the final, the team has done beyond everyone’s expectation by reaching the final stage.

“I also would like to point out that the Penang football Sukma squad is also part of Penang FC.

“And some of them have been promoted and will play for Penang FC senior team next season,” he said.
