INTEL Penang celebrated the 50th anniversary of the founding of the company in a fun fair-like atmosphere at Hotel Equatorial which was attended by its top management as well as Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow as the Guest of Honour.

The Electrical & Electronics multinational company was founded on July 18, 1968 by Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore and based in Mountain View, California in the US. Intel Penang, for that matter, is the its first and largest offshore site with its Chip Design Centre in Penang and Board Design Centre in Kulim.

The 50th anniversary of the MNC is marked with parties and great fun taking place at 90 Intel campuses around the world.

Chow who arrived at the hotel in the midst of the celebrations taking place took part in several games which were organised at different booths while being accompanied by Intel Penang managing director Robin Martin.

Many of the booths bore the names of charitable organisations such as St. Nicholas Home, Silver Jubilee Home, Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Seri Cahaya, Relau Rumah Charis and Than Hsiang Mitra Welfare Association Penang which further emphasized the corporate social responsibility practiced by Intel.

Intel Penang employs approximately 9,000 employees with 95% of its engineers are Malaysians.
