THE Jalan Padang Tembak open parking space buzzed with a sizable crowd, accompanied by pleasant music and food, complemented by traditional lion dance performances at the Chinese New Year Open House hosted by the Penang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) this evening.

 

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, the guest of honour, expressed amazement at the multitude gathered at the event venue.

 

“It’s incredible to witness so many people here today celebrating this momentous occasion organised by our friends from PKR.

 

“These events underscore our unity government representation,” Chow said in his speech, emphasising the importance of staying together for the common goal of enhancing Penang’s reputation across sectors.

 

Regarding the mandate given to the current state government for the fourth consecutive term, Chow noted that the state stands at a pivotal point before the next General Election, ready to fulfill its responsibilities.

 

“In my second term as chief minister, we face challenges and opportunities. Staying optimistic and focused on our goals is crucial for Penang’s continuous growth,” he added.

 

Chow also highlighted progress on key infrastructure projects, including Silicon Island, Penang Light Rail Transit (LRT), and the Penang International Airport (PIA) expansion.

 

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister I Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, state Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, state Agrotechnology, Food Security and Cooperative Development Committee chairman Fahmi Zainol, state Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim, Kebun Bunga assemblyman Lee Boon Heng, Batu Uban assemblyman Kumaresan Arumugam, Machang Bubok assemblyman Lee Khai Loon, Bukit Tengah assemblyman Gooi Hsiao-Leung and Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik.
