Chow expresses gratitude to his campaign team members for their dedication and commitment

THE newly-elected Batu Kawan MP Chow Kon Yeow has expressed his utmost gratitude and appreciation to his campaign team for working round the clock to ensure Pakatan Harapan wins the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

 

Chow, who is also the Penang Chief Minister, said his team has been following him tirelessly to engage the locals in Batu Kawan since the start of the campaign period.

“We have gone to as many places as possible under the Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency (Perai, Bukit Tengah and Bukit Tambun) to know more about the issues which the people are facing.

 

“I want to record my appreciation to the volunteers, supporters and voters for their unwavering support of me and the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

 

“Not to forget, special thanks also go to the three state assemblymen namely Prof Dr P. Ramasamy (Perai), Gooi Hsiao-Leung (Bukit Tengah), and Goh Choon Aik (Bukit Tambun) for helping me and my team throughout the campaign to win Batu Kawan.

 

“Without your help, I may not be able to win the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat. So, thank you once again for all the hard work and your commitment,” Chow said in his speech during the appreciation dinner at The Light Hotel in Seberang Jaya today.

 

Also present were Dr Ramasamy and Batu Kawan Pakatan Harapan campaign director David Marshel.

 

The GE15 saw Chow, who is also the Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, won the Batu Kawan parliamentary seat with 50,744 votes.

 

He defeated his rivals Lee Ah Leong (Parti Rakyat Malaysia), Tan Lee Huat (Barisan Nasional), Wong Chia Zhen (Perikatan Nasional) and Ong Chin Wen (Warisan) with a 40,400 majority.

 

Wong came in second with 10,344 votes, while Tan obtained 7,145 votes. Ong and Lee only managed to grab 450 and 148 votes respectively.

 

As the Batu Kawan MP, Chow reiterated his commitment to do his best to address various issues in the parliamentary constituency. Among the issues highlighted were traffic congestion and floods.

 

“I will continue to meet and engage the locals,” he said.

 

Chow also announced that the Batu Kawan parliamentary service centre would most likely be set up in Simpang Ampat as the location is in the centre of Batu Kawan.
