Christmas joy for underprivileged children

THE Bukit Mertajam District Rover Scout Secretariat and Plexus gave the orphans of Pusat Jagaan Sinar Ceria a Christmas treat recently.

The organisers took the children to visit the Penang Bird Park to celebrate the festivity, allowing them to spend their first Christmas physically after the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, the children received a gift each and also enjoyed themselves by taking part in various games that were lined up for them.

Berapit assemblyman Heng Lee Lee, who is also the president of the Scout Council of Bukit Mertajam, said that this was one of the ways for the Scouts to give back to society.

“The disadvantaged groups need assistance, and their children need to be recognised because they are also the future and hope of the country.

“I would also like to thank Plexus for sponsoring the event, allowing the orphans to experience the joy of celebration and the warmth of the world,” she said.
