THE Penang government has announced an allocation of RM100,000 for SJK(C) Chung Hwa 3 in Perai today.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the donation was to assist the school in its repair works and upgrading projects.

Chow said the donation was to assist the school in its repair works and upgrading projects.

“The special contribution is to help the school to conduct repair works involving some broken structures in the school, upgrade its hall and library, and also to buy some digital learning equipment for the pupils.

“I was told that the estimated cost of the repair works and upgrading projects is around RM1.5 million.

“And I hope that the donation could assist in some way.

“The donation announced today also shows that the state government has never neglected its duty to ensure that this school and various other schools in the state are well equipped (in terms of their facilities) and in a good condition to accept the new intakes every year.

“At the same time, I hope more non-governmental organisations (NGOs), companies and good Samaritans will step forward to assist SJK(C) Chung Hwa 3 in its repair works and upgrading projects since the fund is still not enough,” Chow said in his speech during his visit to the school today.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, who is also the Perai assemblyman, state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee, Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik and SJK(C) Chung Hwa 3 headmistress Goay Swee Kee.

Goay expressed her utmost gratitude and appreciation to the Penang government for its valuable contribution to the school.

“As of now, we have managed to collect RM1.3 million.

“We still need around RM200,000 to complete all the projects and hopefully more donations will come in from NGOs and good Samaritans.

“The public who wish to donate to the school fund can contact the school secretary at 012-452 8678 (Mr Heng Soo Aun),” she said.

Earlier, Chow and his entourage also went to the Chai Leng Park wet market in Perai for a meet and greet session with the hawkers and public.
