THE most exciting month of the year is finally here, and despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at The Top in Komtar brought much cheer to the many who attended.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who officiated the event, was also glad that 18 disabled children from the Penang Welfare Association for Mentally Retarded Children (Datuk Keramat) and Penang Down Syndrome Association were able to join the occasion.

Chow, in his speech, thanked the Only World Group (OWG) Holdings Berhad for playing a vital role to help the state in its efforts to boost tourism with constant and consistent promotions as a one-stop edutainment venue.

“There is something for everyone at The Top, and with more than 18 themed attractions and attractive F&B offerings, one can easily expect a beautiful experience with loved ones.

“Although most parts of the state entered recovery movement control order (RMCO) two weeks ago (Dec 7), which saw the easing of domestic travel restrictions, let us not get too complacent during the festive season but continue to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The evening was accompanied by a string of beautiful performances by The Top entertainment team.

The Top director of operations Kevin Lai said all the attractions would be fully operational starting tomorrow (Dec 22).

“After the conditional movement control order (CMCO) was lifted on Dec 7, the attractions gradually reopened, and it will be fully open starting tomorrow.

“We hope visitors will continue to be cautious when they visit The Top, and at the same time, enjoy the many attractions lined up for them,” he said during his speech.

Also present were Chow’s wife Tan Lean Kee and Only World Group (OWG) founder and chief executive officer Tan Sri Richard Koh.
