CM hopes MGS continues to be inter-cultural bridge between Germans and Malaysians

THE 2018 German Oktober Fest which entered its second day this evening was made merrier with the presence of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Also present was the honorary Consul of Germany Datuk Hans Brenner.

The chief minister said the evening marked the 46th year of Oktoberfest in Penang.

“It is my utmost privilege to join the celebration as the 5th Chief Minister of Penang,” he said.

Chow added the fact that MGS has been continuously organising this traditional German festival in Penang for decades with great success is not only a celebration of German culture, but also a reflection of brotherhood, family and togetherness.

“Where unity is concerned, I would like to congratulate the German community in Penang and worldwide for having celebrated the German Unity on Oct 3, 2018,” Chow said.

Chow expressed his hope that MGS continues to be the bridge that enables the inter-cultural exchanges between Germans and Malaysians.

He also thanked the organising committee and all parties involved in ensuring Oktoberfest remains as an annual event.
