THE Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) and SEGi University and Colleges (SEGi) are jointly organising a nationwide eSports competition, which will be held in a hybrid manner.

The eSports competition, which is one of the ‘Game On! Expo 2022’ activities, is aimed at connecting Malaysian youths through eSports.

SEGi Group of Colleges managing director Stella Lau said the competition would enable the youths to pick up skills in a fun way.

“eSports can help youths to acquire important skills such as strategic thinking, communication, and teamwork,” she said.

PYDC deputy general manager Ng Hooi Ting said youth development has always been the focus of PYDC.

“We have been constantly engaging the youths in various programmes and activities.

“We welcome and encourage our youths to showcase their talents. This competition is not limited to only youths from Penang.

“We urge the youths to use this platform to network, share experience and knowledge with one another,” she said during the launching ceremony held on Zoom today.

The games that will be played are League of Legends and Wang Zhe Rong Yao.

Players stand a chance to win cash prizes of up to RM3,500 and merchandise. There will also be a lucky draw with prizes worth over RM30,000.
