THE public who wishes to fundraise, donate or volunteer can now ride on the DahDerma platform and help change lives for the better.

The all-in-one social engagement platform is powered by Digital Penang and supported by the Penang government.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state wanted to provide a reliable and trusted platform for users to participate in different forms of donation drives and volunteering for social causes.

“The DahDerma platform is mobile-friendly, secure, and easy to use. We hope that this platform will receive a positive response from all government-linked companies (GLCs) and non-governmental organisations, and in turn, garner strong civic participation from the community.

“There is no doubt that the people are more connected and in tune with the ongoings in the country and the world during this digital age.

“This platform is part of our journey towards digitalisation,” he said during the launching ceremony of DahDerma in Komtar today.

“We need to rally everyone to be part of the campaign. We have to play our respective roles to help ourselves and those around us recover quickly from the impact of Covid-19,” he said.

Penang Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh hoped that the DahDerma platform could cultivate the spirit of volunteerism.

Several organisations, such as Persatuan Kebajikan 88 Captains and ViTrox, got the ball rolling when they donated to Penang Care Society and Buddhist Tzu Chi Merit Society Malaysia fundraising programmes respectively.
