Do not lose hope just yet, Chow tells PH supporters

THE supporters of Pakatan Harapan (PH) should not lose hope just yet as the political coalition still stands a chance to form the Federal Government, says Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow, who is also the state PH chairman, said as it stands now, none of the political coalitions has won enough parliamentary seats to form the government on its own.

“However, PH won the most number of parliamentary seats (82 seats) as compared to the other political coalitions.

“Although, the number is not enough to get a simple majority to form the government, we are doing our best to gather the necessary support from other political parties.

“From a series of walkabouts today, I noticed that some of the supporters are worried and losing hope. They are concerned if Perikatan Nasional (PN) managed to garner enough support to form the Federal Government.

“And they are very concerned about the presence of PAS in the PN government. The people are worried that PAS might implement policies that would be detrimental to their interests.

“I can understand all of their concerns but the people should be optimistic as there is still hope. It is not over just yet,” Chow told reporters when asked to comment about his walkabout at Perkampungan Valdor in Bukit Tambun today.

Chow and his team visited several places under the Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency today to thank voters for their outstanding support in ensuring PH won with a huge majority in Batu Kawan.

Based on the results of the 15th General Election (GE15) that were announced by the Election Commission (EC), the PH coalition, together with Muda, achieved the highest number of seats with 82 seats.

This was followed by PN (73), Barisan Nasional (30), GPS (22), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (6), Warisan (3), Parti Bangsa Malaysia (1) and two independents.
