WITH Christmas Day just around the corner, the Yayasan Amal Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negri Pulau Pinang has taken the initiative to treat 100 underprivileged children from five charity homes to a free movie screening and give them pocket money at Megamal Pinang in Perai today.

The underprivileged children are from Children’s Protection Society Penang, the Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home, Persatuan Kebajikan Sinar Ceria, Butterworth Simpah Kuan Im Teng and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ruyi Pulau Pinang.

The event also was graced by Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak.

Sweet smiles and happiness were clearly reflected on the faces of the underprivileged children when they watched ‘Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile’, a musical comedy type of film that involves a singing and friendly crocodile as the main character.

Some of the underprivileged children were seen enjoying the movie.

After watching the movie, they were treated to a sumptuous lunch and presented with RM100 pocket money each by Ahmad Fuzi.

Ahmad Fuzi also handed out an RM10,000 mock cheque each to the five charity homes.

Yayasan Amal Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negri Pulau Pinang chief executive officer Datuk Seri Rozali Mohamud said all the contributions today were from the charity foundation itself.

“The Yayasan Amal Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negri Pulau Pinang was established by the Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak last year.

“It is to further strengthen his endeavour towards charitable efforts by helping Penangites in distress and the underprivileged.

“The fund is supported by the state government and is open to anyone to contribute towards its purpose.

“We are also calling for good Samaritans to step forward and contribute generously to the fund to help more underprivileged Penangites.

“To donate or for further inquiry, they can email [email protected],” said Rozali, who is also the former Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) mayor.

Rozali also expressed hopes that the contribution today could give hope and happiness to underprivileged children, as well as provide the true meaning of Christmas.
