THE Bukit Tengah service centre has organised a series of special carnivals to engage with the community under the constituency.

The special carnival is known as the ‘Karnival Madani – Kita Bersama Bukit Tengah’ (Madani Carnival – We are with Bukit Tengah).

Bukit Tengah assemblyman Gooi Hsiao-Leung said it is aimed at educating the public, promoting civic engagement and strengthening communities by addressing their societal needs.

“It is an outreach programme where we bring several state and federal agencies to go to the ground to engage with the community.

“Through this initiative, these agencies will explain to the people about the services that they are providing.

“Among the agencies involved are National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC), Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) and many others.

“We also have free health screenings, mobile library, lucky draw session and other activities at the carnival,” Gooi said in his speech before Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow officiated the Madani Carnival at Dewan MPKK Bukit Minyak in Bukit Tengah today.

Also present was Bukit Minyak Village Community Management Council (MPKK) chairman Chew Chin Ewo.

According to Gooi, the Madani Carnival organised by his service centre has four series.

“This is the second series. This first one was held last week at Kampung Sungai Semilang.

“The third and fourth series will be organised in the following weeks (Saturday) at Taman Mangga and Taman Bayu Mutiara respectively.

“All of these locations fall under the Bukit Tengah constituency,” he said.

Chow also congratulated Gooi and his Bukit Tengah service centre team for organising this meaningful carnival.

Chow also congratulated Gooi and his Bukit Tengah service centre team for organising this meaningful carnival.

“I believe this is the first carnival in the state that uses the Malaysia Madani concept to focus on community engagement and empowerment.

“This carnival is one of the best instruments to instil unity among the people to realise the Malaysia Madani concept that focuses on six core values namely sustainability, prosperity, innovation, respect, trust and compassion.

“And we hope such a carnival can be done in other constituencies as it helps the community to learn more about the services provided by the state and federal agencies.,” Chow said.
