SPORTS enthusiasts can now stand a chance to win cash prizes totalling RM4,400 in the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) virtual run and ride this year.
MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the month-long competition has officially started from today until Oct 20.
“For this year’s competition, apart from a virtual bicycle ride, we include a virtual run to spur interest among the public.
“There are two categories each for the virtual run and virtual ride, namely Longest Distance in a single (ride or run) and Longest Distance within the competition period.
“Winners for each category will receive RM150, second place will receive RM100 and the third place will bring back RM50.
“And for each category, participants are divided into the public and council staff members.
“It is open to all Penangites and those from other states as well. Each participant also will receive a certificate. There are a total of 40 lucky draw cash prizes to be won (RM50 each).
“By organising such virtual competition, it is our hope that we can inculcate healthy living habits through running and cycling among the public and at the same time to reduce their emotional stress due to the Covid-19 situation,” Rozali told a press conference at the MBSP headquarters building in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today.
Rozali said participants are required to take a screenshot of data from their ride or run from their respective applications used to track the distance and submit the data as proof.
