Quarry firms lend a hand

A TOTAL of 10 companies from the quarry industry have come forward to donate 2,000 pulse oximeters to the Penang government today.

 

Each of them donated 200 pulse oximeters.

 

They are Andesite Quarry Sdn Bhd, Batu Tiga Quarry Sdn Bhd, FYS Marketing Sdn Bhd, Hanson Quarry Products Sdn Bhd, Kuari Utama (Juru) Sdn Bhd, Kuari Utama (Valdor) Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Rock Products Sdn Bhd, Teik Granite Corporation Sdn Bhd, Unique Mix (Penang) Sdn Bhd and Wee Lian Construction Sdn Bhd.

 

Penang Quarry Association (PQA) president Saw Kok Peng, who represented all the 10 companies, said the total value of the donated items was RM52,000.

“It is part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

 

“We hope with such donation, we will be able to assist the state government in their battle to overcome the brutal effects of Covid-19 pandemic,” Saw said during the handover ceremony at Komtar today.

 

State Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, who received the items on behalf of the Penang government, thanked all the 10 companies for their valuable assistance during these trying times.

 

“The pulse oximeters received today will be distributed to all 40 assemblymen’s service centres,” he said.

 

Also present during the handover ceremony were representatives Zeems Foo Kheng Sin (FYS Marketing) , Danny Goh (Hanson Quarry Products) and Angie Ng Mei Pheng (Malaysian Rock Products).
