THE RM530mil Bukit Kukus paired road project linking Lebuhraya Thean Teik in Bandar Baru Air Itam to Lebuh Bukit Jambul is progressing well.

State Public Works, Utilities and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said the project was expected to complete by middle of next year.

“The construction of the 5km-alternative road is about 75% completed. It was slightly delayed due to the landslide tragedy which claimed nine lives in October last year,” he said.

Zairil, together with six agencies conducted an inspection of the site in Lebuh Bukit Jambul today.

Among the agencies were Department of Environment (DoE) and Department of Mineral and Geoscience.

The paired road project is undertaken by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and two private developers – PLB Land Sdn Bhd (PLB) and Geo Valley Sdn Bhd.
