Financial aid for Chinese independent schools

FIVE independent schools in the state today received financial aid totalling RM2 million.

The schools, namely Por Tay Private High School, Jit Sin Independent High School, Penang Chinese Girls Private High School, Han Chiang High School and Chung Ling Private High School each received RM400,000 at a ceremony held in Komtar this afternoon.

The schools’ representatives received their letter of approval from their respective assemblymen, witnessed by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and state Women, Family and Community Development Development, Gender Inclusiveness and non-Islamic Religion Committee chairman Chong Eng.

Among others present were state exco members Jagdeep Singh Deo and Phee Boon Poh.

Chow expressed hopes that the fund would help the schools to upgrade and also repair their facilities.

“We also wish the allocation will create a more conducive environment for students to study,” said Chow, adding that the funding today was in line with the state’s Pakatan Harapan manifesto before the last general election.
