THE state government has allocated RM2,000 to each of the four surau in Pengkalan Kota constituency for the Ramadan celebration under the new normal.

Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen said this when he received Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow during his visit to Ar-Raudah surau at the Kompleks Pulau Mutiara in Gat Lebuh Macallum today.

During his visit, Chow joined the surau committee members to distribute 150 packets of ‘nasi briyani’ to the residents at the low medium-cost flats there for their breaking of fast.

“A breaking of fast was usually organised with the local Muslim community here in previous years. But because of the Covid-19 pandemic this year, we are only distributing the items house to house under the new normal.

“We have given out a total of 800 packets of this rice, including today’s distribution,” Gooi said.
