THE Penang government has initiated the ‘First Responder’ team to reply to questions and issues posed on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s official Facebook page.

Chow said the initiative, under the LovePENANG campaign, was aimed at providing transparent and accountable information to reduce false information.

“We hope to create more platforms for public participation.

“I believe this can address the concerns faced by the public in obtaining authentic information and ensure more effective two-way communication,” Chow told a media conference in Komtar today.

Chow’s senior private secretary Muhamad Azrai Mohamad Zaini said the officers from various government departments have been identified and will provide the ‘First Responder’ team with the necessary information.

“The ‘First Responder’ team will then be replying to the questions posed on the Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s official Facebook page in the language the questions were posed,” Muhamad Azrai said.

Chow said the aim was to reply to those who asked the questions within 24 hours.

At the same media conference, Chow announced the ‘Social Media Video Challenge’ which allowed participants to stand a chance to win cash prizes.

“Those interested have to submit a short video showing why, how or what they love about Penang.

“The contest is open to Malaysians. They just need to produce a creative video with the LovePENANG message. The videos with the most ‘Likes’ and ‘Shares’ will be judged.

“The winners will be announced on LovePENANG’s official Facebook page,” he said.
